Masters Moments Fourteen Media Veterans and Their Masters Moments

Three years ago, Golf Digest writer and Masters’ media legend, Nick Seitz aggregated opinions of fourteen veteran journalists who’ve each covered more than 40 Masters. These experienced writers provided their top Masters’ memories. To get more of the moments, I highly suggest downloading the PDF here, Masters Moments (3 page PDF), but if you are in rush, they are in list form below:

Kaye Kessler – 1967, Jack’s loss and Hogan’s back nine 30.

John Derr – 1935, Sarazen’s double eagle

Art Spander – 1997, Tiger’s victory.

Ron Green Sr. – 1998, Ceremonial tee shot with Snead, Sarazen, and Nelson.

Furman Bisher – 1986, Jack Nicklaus’ back nine comeback.

Big Al Wester – 1967, Hogan’s 66 on Saturday.

Dan Foster – 1960, Arnold Palmer’s birdie, birdie finish.

Dave Moffitt – 1965, Nicklaus’ record breaking tournament score of 271.

Dave Kindred – 1967, Hogan’s 66 on Saturday.

Hubert Mizell - 1986, Jack Nicklaus’ back nine comeback.

Dan Jenkins – 1951-1954, Hogan and Snead going back and forth starting in 1951.

Ed Pope – 1986, Nicklaus’ back nine comeback.

Horace Billings – 1954, Amateur, Billy Joe Patton almost flirtation with victory.

After reading that, I’m like a kid waiting for Christmas. No event will ever compare to the masters for me.

I agree. The entire production, feel, and contribution to the game is not matched in another event.
